JavaScript is a programming language developed by Netscape whereby small web-specific applications are executed inside of a users browser. It does not have any security risks for the users PC. Macromedia Flash
Flash is an animation standard developed by Macromedia whereby animations can be displayed to a user. Many web sites use Flash for their sites at the moment.
